This past Tuesday around dinner Drew started acting crabby, I attributed it to an hour nap after a busy day, and still trying to catch up on sleep from a super bowl party. He seemed fine, no fever, no runny nose, etc. Shortly into the whining and crying he told me his ear hurt. I wasn't quite convinced, since he also told me his arm, nose and eye hurt. I was thinking it may be a bladder infection since he can hold it for a long time...although he was starting to act like it was his ear. After being up all night, crying, it turned daylight and their was something all over my shirt where he laid throughout the long night. Then I knew it was for sure his ear. I canceled the work I had scheduled in the am, and called the doctor the minute they opened. Maw Maw came over to help with Blake since Drew didn't want to be put down and we headed to the doctor! Drew tried to convince me to take him to Target first, but I told him we would go there later. Drew had 1 infected, ruptured ear drum, and Blake was fine. Drew gave himself his own medicine and he was ready to head to Wal-Mart (they have a better car selection). So...I worked that afternoon...it's amazing what 1 does of meds and a car will do!
Friday afternoon, Drew started to have the "croupy" cough....Sat am we knew we had to head to the doctor before it got bad. We hesitated to all go, but we decided to all go. Long story short...Blake was shivering as we waited for the doctor...the nurse took Drew's temp (normal) I then asked her to take Blake's temp since we were there.....103.4! Are you serious!? He was dancing before we left!! The nurse gave him Tylenol and checked him in so the doc could see him too! His flu swab and strep negative, no ear infections...just a mystery fever virus that comes on as quickly as it leaves!! Bizarre!! They took his temp before we left...105! They gave him Motrin...and we were on our way. His temp came down and he was ready to get a pillow pet (Drew has claimed Blake's as his own). So we took him to pick out a pillow pet...he chose the pink and purple unicorn. He has picked that out with Maw Maw and when I was by myself, but didn't buy it. A lady behind us in line said it well..."Get past the pink and purple, its just a horse)!! They are now both almost back to normal....thank goodness!
